RAFA PASCUAL: “The best, the best”
The past January 27 the biography of was presented in Madrid Rafa Pascual, one of the great names in Spanish sport. Considered the flagship of national volleyballPascual is the player who has defended the Spanish national team shirt the most times, with 527 international matches.
The book, titled "The best, the best", has 318 pages and more than 200 photographs, and reviews the intense personal and sporting career of the former captain of the national team.
The work has been written by Pepe Díaz, from Seville, holds a PhD in Philosophy and Educational Sciences, a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, and is a professor-instructor for the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). It was presented at the Great Hall of the INEF in Madrid, in an emotional event surrounded by sports figures.
“It was a labor that lasted more than three years,” explained Díaz, who described Rafa as “one of the flagships of Spanish volleyball, who contributed to the popularization of the sport.” She also highlighted the fundamental role of his family, “which gave him the emotional balance necessary to succeed at the international elite.”
Paschal, visibly excited, especially thanked the support of his mother and family during a career that led him to compete in 7 countries, 19 clubs and 31 teamsOne of the highlights of his career was his election as Best Player in the World in 1998.
The event was attended by numerous personalities from the world of sport and education:
- José Manuel Franco, president of the Higher Sports Council
- Coral Bistuer, Director General of Sports of the Community of Madrid
- Raúl Chapado and Agustín Martín, presidents of the Spanish athletics and volleyball federations
- Francisco Javier Leube, Vice-Rector of Communication at the Polytechnic University
